Content creation is a rollercoaster. Here are five ideas that help me stay motivated, set things in perspective, and get results.

I hope you find them useful, too:

1. Know your why

Figure out what you're trying to achieve. Why do you want this?

Really?

Identifying your why (there may be several 'whys', not just one) should help you stay motivated and persevere when times get tough.

Which they will.

As Nietzsche said, "He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how."

Succeeding online and in business is hard. It takes time. There are setbacks. You will be full of self-doubt at times, and question whether you'll ever get results.

This has been true for me, anyway.

I've been making content for over six years and am still nowhere near where I want to be - especially after The Setback (see my story from earlier for context).

Having a why to come back to is powerful. For me, it's all about autonomy, and attaining it by doing something I enjoy. I want to make the most of my time, have adventures, and do whatever I can to avoid the rat race. I also want to help people and make a difference.

Content ticks every box, which makes it a worthwhile pursuit.

2. Quantity over quality

In most areas of life, less is more.

That is not the case for content creation.

In this industry, you should aim for quantity.

Of course, the quality of your work makes a difference. But there are several reasons to focus on quantity instead:

  1. It takes reps to improve. The more you make, the better you become.
