When I started making content, one of the first hurdles to overcome was learning what all the different marketing terms meant!
If you're in that position, here's a quick list of the main ones to know about:
Visitors to a website, landing page, piece of content, or digital platform. Think of it like foot traffic through the door of a shop.
The total number of people who see your content, regardless of whether they interact with it. Everything you do as a marketer is designed to reach your target audience.
Interaction with your content by your audience. This includes likes, shares, comments, clicks, and other measurable actions.
These are the two types of traffic and engagement. Organic occurs without paid promotion, such as posting on social media. Paid involves spending money on ads or sponsored content to reach an audience.
The process of optimizing a website, social media profiles, and content to rank higher and increase visibility in search engine results (such as Google or YouTube). The goal is more organic traffic.
Related to SEO, these are the specific words and/or phrases that users type into search engines. Eg If you Google "how to grow on social media", that's a keyword.
Creators and marketers target them in content to improve discoverability.
Standalone pages of a website designed for specific marketing campaigns. You direct traffic to them with the goal of encouraging a desired action, such as signing up or buying something.
A resource (e.g., an eBook or email course) offered for free in exchange for a user's contact information. You might set up a landing page for your lead magnet. People see the offer and give their email address to receive it.
